At Indigo, our clinicians appreciate our team-centered culture, fast-paced environment and opportunity to treat a diverse range of medical cases. But don’t just take our word for it.
We recently caught up with Indigo Regional Medical Director Kim Silverman, DNP, ARNP, to get her take on what makes Indigo a great place to work and provide care.
1. Indigo is a place to thrive.
I really thrive in an environment where every day brings a new set of challenges. That’s one of the reasons I love working at Indigo. We see patients from all walks of life, each with their own set of needs. The variety and fast pace keep me on my toes, and I’m always engaged and growing as an Advanced Practice Provider.
We typically see about three to four patients an hour, so our shifts fly by. Even though it’s busy, there’s always time to connect with each patient and work together on a plan to help them feel better.
This is the only job I have had as an APP. The fact that I’ve been here more than six years and have no plans on leaving anytime soon speaks for itself.
2. We’re always evolving.
Indigo has such an innovative approach to health care. We’re always adapting to meet the changing needs of our patients, community and team members. And if there’s a way to improve, we’re not afraid to try something new.
I also really appreciate how Indigo keeps expanding into new markets, which helps us reach and serve even more patients.
3. This is where collaboration rules.
I really appreciate the strong sense of teamwork at Indigo. Everyone I work with brings something unique and important to the table, and I value each one of them.
I also really enjoy the whole process of onboarding and training new providers. It’s not about only sharing what I know with them – it’s also a chance to learn new perspectives and fresh approaches from them as well.
4. Sometimes you’re part of something bigger.
Urgent care isn’t just about treating minor illnesses and injuries. Sometimes it’s about stepping up when the unexpected happens.
When Washington state confirmed its first cases of monkeypox, MultiCare Health System quickly jumped into action and put together a plan to test for the virus at our Indigo locations. We also worked fast to find a solution to treat our high-risk patients.
We immediately took steps to have some of our providers become co-investigators with the CDC, which allowed us to prescribe the antiviral medication used to treat monkeypox. Plus, we used Indigo’s virtual technology to follow up with anyone who tested positive while they were quarantining, making sure they were good candidates for treatment and that they received timely care.
Being a part of that effort and at the forefront was incredibly rewarding.
5. The work-life balance makes for awesome adventures.
I love traveling and exploring new places, and I’m always on the lookout for my next adventure. Some of my favorite experiences include visiting Everest Base Camp in Nepal, scuba diving in Raja Ampat, Indonesia, and hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. Each of these trips pushed me to my limits, let me immerse myself in new cultures, and gave me a deeper appreciation for the world.
When I’m not traveling, I love spending my days off outdoors. Whether it’s finding a new trail to explore or heading to the river with my husband and our two German Shepherds, Mika and Pogo, there’s nothing better than being outside.
